\nAlfie\u2019s vocal dexterity and song writing proficiency was uncovered by a publisher while writing for his first original band \u201cSurrender, a five-piece group that recorded three albums in the late 1970s into the early 1980s. As a solo artist Alfie’s career took off with a legacy of hits that brought him to the world’s attention. “Start Again\u201d, \u201cPassion\u201d, \u201cWhen I Fall in Love Again\u201d and \u201cNothing Can Stand In
\nYour Way\u201d written with David Foster. In 1988 he was awarded JUNOs for \u201cAlbum of The Year\u2019 and \u201cMost Promising Artist\u201d, and American Music Award for \u201cMost Popular Album of The Year\u201d. These hit songs were originally written for acoustic and jazz presentations. Writing for radio began to rub against Alfie\u2019s musical integrity and he became frustrated with the demands of music trends.
